Canter's rarely betrays you: consistently good deli food, 24 hours a day, served in a retro environment that sometimes puzzles you but never disappoints you. I love the pastramis and the corned beefs but recently I decided to expand to other items on the menus, indulging on poached eggs for instance, and again, I was not disappointed. And the fact that it is always open, I love it. Sometimes it is the middle of the night, you cannot sleep, it is hot, or it is cold, or you are lonely or in a bad mood, and nothing works.. well, it is comforting to think "I could go to Canter." |

This is the place to go for pastrami or corned beef - made just about any way you want it. I am traditionally more into sandwiches, and often order either the pastrami or corned beef reuben sandwich. It is a nice sized sandwich, full of the meat that has made Canter's famous. Their french fries are surprising tasty and stay warm for longer than you might expect. They have all the usual dishes, from matzo ball soup to Doc Brown's soda, and don't forget to stop at the bakery to pick a treat on the way out. |
