In-N-Out is a classic burger place in Southern California and beyond. It does not have an incredible variety of things (burgers! albeit in a variety of different "secret" combinations) but that little it has, it is good. Burgers are virtually consistent from location to location, while french fries vary from excellent to soggy, but overall I like to stop at In-N-Out. Particularly when traveling, the In-N-Out sign is my friend on the road.

For a fast food restaurant, this one is not at all bad. The burgers are made fresh while you wait and you can have them do whatever you want with the meat, sauce, cheese, bun, lettuce, and tomato. The animal style burger is my favorite, a mustard-cooked beef patty with additional pickles, cheese, spread and grilled onions diced up and mixed together on the grill before getting dumped onto the burger. The fries are variable at any In-N-Out and can be amazingly good to amazingly mediocre. Still, for what you pay and the fact that they are nearly everywhere here in LA, they are great.
